Design Idea
It
all starts with an idea, usually one that grows from an element
that is integral to what you are all about. This unique element becomes
the launchpad of your design and Web information delivery. This Web
site for instance began with the idea of representing freshness (fresh
design ideas in this case).
Everything
starts with a central idea. We discover it and design it
for the reality of the Internet. Next in line are the features or
capacities of the site that must be identified. These are all ideas,
however once realised, they become a tangible and useful tool for
promotion, information and interaction.
Structure.
Imagine the 5 most pertinent elements of your future Web site. Lets
identify the the sublevels of priority. These very elements are the
nemesis of the structure and the roadmap to the information that you
wish to convey. Structure gives shape to the visual concept.
Navigation. How does one explore your Web site? What
buttons should be created that allow for sensitive responses and movement
to what is important to your visitor. Navigation must be obvious and
ergonomic. Navigation is paramount to user friendliness.
Features. What kind of content are we dealing with other
than text and images? Are we incorporating media elements such as
audio or video. Are there animations that will amplify the experiences.
Tools maximise the visitor's experience. Discussion
boards or Chat add communication as do automated email responses and
contact forms. The capacity to search a database for information jewels
is priceless. What about eCommerce for selling directly from your
site as this may be your most important point of sales.
